Webinar Replay: Mining the Trust Gap: Protest and American’s Views of Police Behavior
Watch the replay of our March 18, 2021 Community Learning Series webinar with Dr. Jeannine Bell, “Mining the Trust Gap: Protest and American’s Views of Police Behavior.”
About the Session
Despite the protests in the summer of 2020, there remains a race-based gap in the trust that Americans have regarding the police. This presentation explores some of the reasons for this trust gap and discusses police procedures that might restore trust in the police for Americans of all racial backgrounds.
About the Presenter
A nationally recognized scholar in the area of policing and hate crime, Dr. Jeannine Bell is a professor at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. Dr. Bell’s research is broadly interdisciplinary, touching on both political science and law, and relying on her empirical expertise. Her most recent book, Hate Thy Neighbor: Move-in Violence and the Persistence of Racial Segregation in American Housing, shows through heartbreaking stories that “despite professions of tolerance, whites continue to patrol racial borders.”
