March 21 is The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
March 21 is the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which aims to foster a global culture of tolerance, equality and anti-discrimination, and calls on every one of us to stand up against racial prejudice and intolerant attitudes.
The 2021 theme is “Youth standing up against racism.” Youth showed up in massive numbers worldwide for the 2020 Black Lives Matter marches, including in our state, thanks to the leadership of the Black Lives Mississippi youth organizers.
Though racial discrimination may manifest differently around the world, its roots of fear and misunderstanding are the same. The Winter Institute’s mission is to end all discrimination based on difference, through courageous conversations that foster connection, as well as changes in perspectives and policy.
Every action you take to educate yourself and engage in conversations around race is one step closer to eliminating racial discrimination.
